Barrier: A point of restriction of movement, it can be physiological, pathological or anatomical. Concentric: Contraction of a muscle, involving the shortening of its length. Eccentric: Contraction of a muscle, involving lengthening of the muscle. Isometric: Contraction of a muscle when there is no change in its length. Isotonic: Contraction of a muscle, involving a change in its length. Synergist: A muscle that assists an Agonist during movement, but has other primary functions.
