Qualified Massage Therapists - Health Fund Rebates AvailableDEEP TISSUE MASSAGE Deep Tissue Massage is used to release chronic muscle tension and is focused on the deeper muscle layers. A Deep Tissue stroke can be a slow and sustained deep stretching movement while the therapist uses their elbow or closed fists along the length of a muscle, or fast and aggressive when used as a deep cross fibre. It may also be a deep rolling cross friction technique performed with finger pressure over muscle tendons and facia. Deep Tissue is specific in its intent and a heavy handed massage, or simply pushing harder is not Deep Tissue. All of these movements are used when breaking up scare tissue and are employed after there has been a warm up period of the muscle being addressed, this may be in the form of Swedish movements or deeper effleurage. You can expect to feel some soreness or discomfort during or after the treatment, but in a few days you will feel great benefit from it. After a series of treatments, the chronic muscle fibres will have returned to normality and the Deep Tissue Massage will become very soothing and relaxing.
